    • >> Office 10 - This is a great product, I do not see much difference between 10 and 2007 though. There is a bit of learning curve involved if yoou are use to previous versions of office, pre 2007. I would be happier if it included Outlook. Amazon is great!

I have found they are easier and more efficient to use. As anytime you are doing an upgrade you have to learn the changes and adjust. Not really difficult, just different. Switching from Office 2007 to Office 2010 should be really pretty easy. I didn't have problems, but just be aware there are some differences. I use Word, Excel and One Note daily in a business setting and I appreciate the upgrades. I don't think I need to go into all the details as they have been discussed plenty by others. I appreciate the upgrades and it makes working a little bit more streamlined.

Impressively, all of my settings from Office 2007 were carried forward into the Office 2010 installation. Windows 2010 continues with the ribon from 2007, but improves it by adding a menu line and allowing the click/double click to expand the menu beyond the ribon. I had no problem finding everything I needed. I'm sure there are a few super-power-user improvements under the hood, but to me - an average user - 2010 generally seemed the same as 2007. If you are already using 2007, I wouldn't see much need to upgrade. There really are very few new features - and most of those would only be used by 2% of users. Be forewarned that the Home & Student version of Office 2010 does not include Microsoft Outlook 2010, which must be added separately.

I'm not working, so my buying office 2010 might seem insane to jo public. I bought inside out books back then to learn the software. I didn't expect the software to offer much help. Also, I made a deliberate choice to buy THE DISC version of the program this time. download things aren't my thing-philosophy and otherwise. Well, I am STUNNED, and not for the good. My ex and I started with the micros in 1980. Our 1st computer had prob the first version of word perfect out there, if not one of the first. I had a technical for it, but it was bare bones. I grew alot then. I enjoyed using office 2000. Let me continue by saying that I am excited about all the features and choices added to ms office since then. I purchased a complete suite of riley publishing books on 2010 office. And as helpful as they are, THIS IS NOT THE SAME OFFICE. I feel like I am back to the old wordperfect days. The formatting is very very challenging, unless you have a great deal of patience with software(which I do, since I'm self taught on the computer, through trial and error and many computer books and going on os system #5 for me). One of the reasons I went ahead and purchased this high end software is I lost the use of works, which came with my computer, and didn't want to spend $75 or so to take it to someone and figure out why it hates my works. I' sure the power of this program is there, but I'm having a heck of a time breaking it all down to get to even a medium level of proficiency.

    • >> Not bad but could be better - Overall, still pretty good but the older version seemed more user friendly. I liked the tab setup that the pc version had a lot more. It also seems that the mac version can be a little sluggish at times. Seeing how my mac is only about 3 months old, I have to attribute this to the software, not the computer. That being said, if I had to do it over again, I probably would have given iWork a shot instead. Back when I was primarily a pc user, I had an older copy for windows xp. I have to say I like it better than the mac version. The interface was much more visually pleasing which may not really seem like a big deal, but as a heavy office user it is something nicer to look at for extended periods. Also, I liked the layout of the pc version better as well. Using the tool palette can be a little tedious because it somehow finds a way to always get in the way.

Thirdly, loading it to my 2005 mac was a cinch, which, you guessed it, took me to the third level of happiness. Anyway, I have already started using Word,Powerpoint and Excel and I am glad to report that they work great! So far no problems, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I hope that whatever bugs that were reported earlier have already been fixed.

    • >> Really Blizzard? - I'm extremely surprised that a company as beloved as Blizzard would throw so many restrictions at their long standing customer base.There are limits to how much abuse people will put up with before that taste that they leave in their mouth becomes to sour to accept. I'm not going to write about all the flaws as there are plenty of reviews that shine light on them. One in particular that affects myself and up to another 400,000 people in the U.S. Army is that Blizzard in their infinite wisdom decided that they should tether this game to the internet. So now when I'm deployed I won't be able to play a game that I bought legally. Guess I'll have to look for some illegal means of playing it and next time i won't waste money trying to pay for nothing. WAY TO TURN PEOPLE TOWARDS PIRATING BLIZZARD!
    • >> A well made sequel to the first. - I am a fan of the first starcraft, this made me want to buy the second when it came out. The new one is much better than the first, cinematic scenes throughout campaign are much more common than in the first. Also, with the new [...] system, I get matched up against challenging opponents that aren't necessarily more skilled than I am, meaning every match is for the most part is fair. A major problem with the original starcraft is I would log on, and within seconds be told "Oh I got the noob on my team" and my teammate would immediately bail. Because I am not forced to play with people at different skill levels the game is considerably less one sided than in the original. Campaign can be adjusted based on skill level. In the first one I had difficulty with it, I felt it was less newcomer friendly. The new campaign difficult levels are accurate. I love the game, better graphics, more units, campaign is so fun I actually want to play it a second time.

The UI is streamlined, annoy things like getting SCV's and other units getting stuck behind piles of supply depots has been solved, and you can queue up buildings and automatically have it return back to mining. Siege tanks can also now be told to move to a location first and deploy via the improved ui. The single player campaign is well over 50 hours. Excellent value.

The game isn't that long (sure Skrimmage mode kind of makes it longer), and you HAVE to have online in order for this SINGLE PLAYER game to work! AND you have to update your account online EVERY 30 DAYS or you can't play the game. WHAT BS IS BLIZZARD DOING NOW!!! I'm telling you, if Diablo III is going to be the same as this great game gone BAD (a.k.a. GREEDY), then I'm bocotting BLIZZARD!!!

I recently upgraded to Windows 7, and I was unable to get QB 2005 to install correctly. I even tried to install a virtual version of Windows XP back on to the Windows 7 machine, for the purposes of running QB 2005, and I still couldn't get it to install. In the end, I purchased QB 2010 and it installed fine. I don't think I will have a use for any of the additional features of the product, so the reason for my purchase was simply to get access to my data on Windows 7. It would have been nice if Intuit offered a "patch" to allow their products to be compatible with Windows 7. That said, the software works find, and hopefully I won't have to upgrade again for another 5 years.

I've had to resort to buying a computer with Windows XP for the office so I can get to our Quick Books files. Most frustrating was QuickBooks wanting to charge me for my help because I didn't buy it directly from them online. That really made me mad. Will I buy another QuickBooks? NO! Will I buy anything from Amazon again? Yes, they have been absolutely wonderful in dealing with me on this situation.

Low on ressources. Only downside is a bit long scan time, but that's to be expected, when you have LOTS of files (Steam games). Unfortunately it CAN delete files which it shouldn't, but that's a rare occasion, and you can add those files to be excluded from realtime scanning. All in all I would rate this 4/5 (4,5/5, if that was possible). Not perfect, but in my book, better than the other suites I have tested.

In the past Utilities, at times, caused more harm than good but recently, since my Dell came with a subscription, I was happy with it and I renewed it. This year the annoying screens from Symantic popped up telling me I had to renew. When I went to renew my subscription with Symantic they were going to charge me five dollars less than the whole product cost on their own site. It did not make sense. I looked around and found that it was much cheaper on Amazon and that for the whole version. Today the subscription expired and when I turned on my computer, all of Norton 360 products were off, not just the update features. In the past the basic product worked but you remained at risk for infections from a new virus. Now firewall, anti-virus, id protection and all else in the program is off. I might be wrong but it seems like 1) they do not give a damn about loyal customers and 2) the fact that they want $59 from me for a subscription and turned off all components seems to be underhanded. I know I can buy version 4/360 for $40 on Amazon but what about next year? I am seriously tempted to just switch but who knows. I also agree with the gentleman who complained about symantics customer service. I'm not too crazy about the fact that congress let all these jobs go overseas but I don't think I'd be half as pissed if they spoke english I could hear and understand. Tonight getting through was horrible.....it wasn't the fault of the people on customer service, you can tell they are trying, its the system. Ok, I'm finished.....a hundred years from now there better be a plaque for all of us who were pioneers and who funded the development of the personal computer.

    • >> Exceeded all expectations - I thought I'd never want to switch from XP after seeing Vista. But I finally decided that I should at least give 7 a try. It's great. I'm running it on a Pentium D with 2gb of RAM and it works great. I was afraid it would be slow, but it's just as fast as XP, if not faster. All of my old programs that I used on XP still work. Good job, Microsoft!
